"Sgraffito" is the Italian word for "to scratch". In this workshop, using instructions gleaned from Ann Kullberg's COLOR magazine, Pat Hovis-French led these brave adventurers through multiple steps, using colored pencils and oil pastels, to create a fun "sgraffito" work of art. (Some of us had to redefine, "fun" though!) Helen Long, Pat Bell, Jack O'Keefe, Jan Rosenburg, and a somewhat reluctant Don French all followed the step-by-step instructions. Bamboo skewers were used to scratch through the oil pastel top layer. We came up with some "interesting" results. Here are a few candid shots from today:
